A public viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 300 to 700 p.m. On Saturday April 4 2026 at 230 p.m. a service celebrating his life will be held at Greater Oak Grove Baptist Church 35441 South Quay Road Franklin Virginia with the pastor Reverend Curtis Mitchell Jr. delivering the eulogy. Thomas Clark Powers of Richmond Virginia died on March 28th following a long battle with kidney disease and recent complications from pneumonia. Raised in Chattanooga Tennessee Tom excelled academically earning a full merit scholarship to attend military prep school at McCallie. He later earned a Navy ROTC scholarship to Georgia Tech where he was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society joined the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and graduated in 1965 with a degree in industrial engineering. Tom went on to earn his MBA from the University of North Florida in 1974. Known for his professionalism and trustworthiness Tom built a strong wideranging career as an executive serving a number of companies and spending his final 29 years of work with Southern States Cooperative in Richmond Virginia.
