Mildred Verna Hines was born on February 17 1936 in Beaufort County North Carolina. Her mother was Carlilly Scott and her father was William Robert Moore. She was lovingly raised by her grandmother Eliza Moore who provided her with a solid foundation of faith and family values. At an early age she moved to Brooklyn New York where her lifes journey would unfold in ways she never imagined. Her grandmother believed this move was best for her future. In 1956 Mildred met the love of her life Claude Hines Sr. who often said he knew immediately she was the one. Four months later on August 25 1956 they married and shared 25 beautiful years together. Mildreds life was forever changed in October 1958 when God visited her bedroom and told her to "follow me." My lovely wife Janice passed away last night peacefully at home on Wednesday March 25 2026 surrounded by her son Erik her daughterinlaw Dawn her granddaughter Madison and my son. Janice fought a rough battle with COPD for 28 years. She was a mother a life friend painter a volunteer for cat rescue drove a City Bus in Norfolk Virginia and was a wonderful cook. Jan grew up in Fall River Massachusetts got married at a young age to Bob Tate and had 3 boys 2 were twins. She was a person with a strong ethical code a staunch Democrat who believed in fairness and the treatment of everyone equally in a fair loving way. I loved her and will miss her companionship. She loved her family and friends. I deeply miss her.
