DONNA RAINESNORTON, VA – Donna Inez Ison Raines, passed away peacefully at her home on March 31, 2026. She was born on February 17, 1938, the third of five children to Bertha Gardner Ison and James Kinard Ison.Donna graduated from John I. Burton High School in Norton and Radford College with a degree in French. She later became certified in Elementary Education and in 1976 received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She spent her career in the classroom and retired from Wise County Schools in 2001 with 34 years of service, mostly in sixth grade at J.W. Adams in Pound, Va.On November 7, 1959, Donna married Robert and they were blessed with two children, Robby and Reneé.Donna was of the Baptist faith and served for many years as the adult leader of the Acteens, an organization for young girls in the Baptist Church.
