Bertha Dale Chaplin 89 of Luray passed away on Saturday March 28 2026 at Page Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 2 1936 at her grandparents house in Page County which is now part of the Shenandoah National ForestSkyline Drive. She was the only child of the late Edward Aleshire and Mattie Elizabeth Sours Aleshire Purcell. In 1955 Bertha moved to Washington DC to work for the State Department and served with the United States Marine Corps Reserves. On September 5 1959 she married Ollie Hutton Chaplin of Shenandoah Virginia. After marrying and having children she was active with her childrens schools and participated in the homemakers club. She liked doing crafts and social events. Later in life she assisted trucking companies in obtaining government contracts during which she enjoyed traveling and meeting people across the country. Bob was born November 19 1935 at the family home in New Market VA. He was the son of the late Irvin C. and Eunice Burkholder Moyers. He graduated from Broadway High School in 1954. In 1958 he graduated from Bridgewater College. Bob was a member of the Bridgewater baseball team and started the golf team. Upon his graduation he was drafted into the Army continuing his service with the Army National Guard. Bob perused a successful 23year career with Aileen Inc. He then changed career course and began Bob Moyers Sales working 20 years as an Independent Sales Rep in the Window and Door Industry. Bob was active with New Market Rebels for many years. He served on the Shenvalee Board of Directors. He was an avid golfer and champion who was inducted into The Virginia Golf Hall of Fame class of 2023. Bob is survived by two daughters…

He was born on June 30 1969 in Manassas and was a son of Kenneth Lee Wright and Deloris Mae Dellinger Knott both of Stanley. In addition to his parents and his wife Brian is survived by a daughter Joanie Lentz of Luray a son Brian Lee Wright Jr. of Shenandoah a brother James Wesley Wright of Brookfield WI 7 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday April 6 at the Antioch Independent Bible Church by Pastor Alan Jones with visitation one hour prior to the service from 1011 a.m. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luray Volunteer Fire Department 1 Firehouse Lane Luray VA 22835.
