Gretna.Martin Joseph Sardella age 91 of Gretna passed away Wednesday April 1 2026 at Piney Forest Health and Rehab of Danville. Mr. Sardella was born December 18 1934 in New Jersey. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Hunt Vasser Sardella. Mr. Sardella was a National Guard veteran and was a firefighter with the Picatinny Arsenal for 30 years. He was passionate about fishing and enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors in his fruit orchard where he had over 200 fruit trees planted. He is survived by a stepdaughter Rita Montgomery and husband Todd of Cascade three grandchildren Samuel Montgomery Shannon Richardson and husband David III and Carrie Barker and two greatgrandchildren Trista Richardson and Anthony Richardson. Gretna.Edward Ed Harvey Smoot age 92 of Gretna passed away on Tuesday March 31 2026 at Bedford Memorial Hospital Bedford VA. Ed was born on October 6 1933 in Granite Maryland to Edward Franklin Smoot and Virginia Elizabeth Sealock. He grew up in this little Baltimore County community renowned for its granite quarries that quarried the granite used to build many of the buildings in Washington D.C. and for the home of the historic Woodstock Jesuit College. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his eight siblings Elzie Lee Smoot Virginia Elizabeth Smoot Alice Madeline Smoot Phylis Iris Smoot Agnes May Smoot Ross Herbert Smoot Garrett R.
