Hwaki had a fulfilling career working in the Casino and Hotel industry as a change person and in housekeeping. In her free time she enjoyed fishing and tending to flowers particularly roses and orchids. She is survived by her beloved husband Charles her son Daniel her daughter Christie Duerr her soninlaw Eric Duer and her grandsons Cade and Eli Duerr. He is preceded in death by his parents his sisters Rose and Fran his beloved wife Valle Saitta and his daughter Theresa Schmeichel. He is survived by his four stepdaughters Connie Gregorio Shelley Covey Michelle Covey Stacie Maes and his son in law Karl Schmeichel. Joe had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He had a love for music and dancing. He also enjoyed playing card games with the family when they got together.

She was the youngest of eight children born to Peter and Ellen Koski Johnson. The family lived on a dairy farm in Chatham where the children all pitched in to help with the farm chores. Joyce had many happy memories of her childhood growing up with her siblings on a farm in the country and attending school in a small schoolhouse where she made many close friends with whom she kept in close contact through the years. Irene and her sister Clara got a ride to Seattle in May 1942 and got jobs at the Boeing Company right away.
