Ellen “Louverta” Cox, 84, of Beckley, formerly of Red Springs passed away on May 17, 2026 at Raleigh General Hospital.Louverta was born on July 12, 1941 in Red Springs, WV; she was the daughter of the late Neva Irene Smith.In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alpha Givens Cox and a sister, Drema Ennis- Agee.She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and sewing. Louverta loved her family, she was very compassionate and loved when family visited.Those left to cherish her memory is one daughter, Brenda Straw of Beckley; one son, Daniel (Susan) Cox and of Red Springs; Sisters, Helen Alverta Fox of Danese, Eileen (Walter) Fox of Dawson Road and Patty Coons of Indiana; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.Service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle. Evelyn Mae Fortney, 75, of Valley Head formerly of White Sulphur Springs passed away on May 14, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.She was born July 8, 1950 in Ronceverte and was the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Donovan Hutchison, Jr.Evelyn was a homemaker. She enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch and sewing and made pillows for her family She was an amazing Aunt who selflessly helped to raise many nieces and nephews. She was an excellent cook who made the absolute Best macaroni and cheese. She was loved by all who knew her and her loss will deeply be felt by those closest to her.
