He was a Green Barret in the U.S Army retiring after sixteen years of service. He played a large role in the Sistersville VFW and American Legion. He was the owner of The Pink Panther and The Body Shop. Carl loved to entertain and make music his first band being Tumbleweed and the second Propaganda. He also loved to play pool and had a special place for DD. For those who knew Captain Carl he loved everyone a social butterfly and quite the Casanova. Surviving is his children Tana Michael Kocher of Sistersville WV Brooke Perrualt of Wheeling WV Nikki Fender of Wheeling WV Karr Lee Butcher of Woodsfield OH and Mary Logan Butcher of Brunswick OH grandchildren Johnathon Andrew Shayli Elim Remmington Atlas and Frances and several nieces nephews and cousins. Mary Wetzel

Kay was born September 22 1934 in Wheeling WV the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Kirchgessner Emig. She was a graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School where she was a cheerleader. She then attended West Liberty State College where she met George Wetzel. They later married May 11 1958 and soon after relocated to Fort Knox KY where their first child Steve was born. They then relocated to New Martinsville WV where they raised their five children. Kay was a homemaker who loved to garden sew and paint. She was a business owner of The Sewing Basket for several years. She enjoyed using her sewing skills to make costumes for the local theater.
