John T. Volk, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026. He was born on October 15, 1950, in Waverly, Iowa, to John Roy Volk and Normadine (Nicolaus) Volk. His family later moved to the Owen homestead, where John would make his home and build a life deeply rooted in family, farming, and the landJohn graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1968. Farming was not simply a way of life for John. It was a passion and a part of who he was. He spent a remarkable 67 years farming, dedicating countless hours to caring for the land and his livestock. John especially loved working with animals, and his horses held a special place in his heart. Our Mother, Mary Johnson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 after battling dementia at The Waterford in Colby under the tender care of Moments Hospice.A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Friends may greet the family starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.Mary was born on February 23, 1943, the daughter of Reuben and Laura (Gruber) Derge in Marshfield. She graduated from Marshfield Columbus High School. Mary worked at Kramers IGA as an accountant. On October 17, 1964, she was united in marriage to Patrick Donald Johnson. They later divorced and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2017.Mary was an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
