Karen Deckert, 62, of Blue River, died, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse. She was born on December 28,1963, in Medway, Maine, the daughter of Kenneth and Velma (Mattall) La Porte. Karen graduated from Medway High School in 1982 and completed her associate’s degree in administration. She married David Deckert on May 16, 1989, in Dillon, SC. In retirement Karen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and crafting. She will always be remembered for being easy to talk to and always willing to give honest advice.Karen is survived by her husband of 37 years David; children: Jennifer and Donald; stepchildren: Amanda and William; sister Elaine Scott (Everett Rowell); brother: Gene (Penny) La Porte; sister-in-law: Susan La Porte; 8 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Rick, Kenneth, and Michael.Per Karen’s request no formal services will be held. Rocky Harlan Longmire, 72, of Readstown, died on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. He was born on April 24, 1954, in Viroqua, the son of Harlan and Lorraine (Gander) Longmire. Rocky graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1972. On June 3, 1972, Rocky was united in marriage to Cheryl Walling. Rocky loved to farm and he purchased the families first farm in 1976. Virginia A. (Shannon) Bruckner, 94, of Richland Center died on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Schmitt Woodland Hills. She was born on November 24, 1931, in Richland Center the daughter of LeRoy and Dorothy (Farley) Shannon. She graduated from Richland Center High School. On May 21, 1953, Virginia was united in marriage to Carl Bruckner and the couple farmed in Dayton Township. Virginia worked at Oswald’s Bakery, Burnham’s Drugstore, and later went to work for Ted Marshall Insurance. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Virginia volunteered with hospice and was a member of the Friends of the Brewer Public Library. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Boaz. Robert D. Simpson, 90, of Lone Rock and DeSoto, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Our Town Assisted Living in Tomah. He was born on February 7, 1936, the son of Raymond and F. Leone (Ferguson) Simpson. Bob grew up in Simpson Valley above Hub City. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1956-1962. Bob married Beverly Hicks in 1958 and they had 9 children. The couple later divorced. Bob married Lorraine Roessler and they moved to DeSoto. He worked for the University of Madison, Richland and La Crosse, retiring from the University of La Crosse. After Lorraine’s passing, he moved near Lone Rock to be closer to his children.Bob played guitar for several country bands including The Bobby Duell Band and Cabera’s.
