Jill A. Humbert Machovec beloved wife mother nana sister and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 13 2026 at the age of 79 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 24 1946 in Dodgeville Wisconsin Jill lived a life centered on love family compassion and selflessness. She was known for her warm heart gentle spirit and unwavering generosity toward everyone around her. Whether through a comforting conversation a homecooked meal or the countless sacrifices she made for those she loved Jill touched the lives of all who knew her. On April 12 1969 Jill married the love of her life Joseph Machovec with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful family raising four children and lovingly welcoming Mary Faith as their fifth child. Greetings from Colleen O’Brien. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing in the mid 1970s. I was fortunate to get a job at Meriter Hospital right after graduation. At Meriter I shopped around until I found “my” place in Emergency Services. After a number of years in the ER, I was appointed head nurse. I immediately noticed something wrong! Women who were sexually assaulted were being examined by male doctors who were not comfortable doing the exams. This gave me the idea to start the “SANE” program, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. I found two other nurses in the country with the same idea. We formed three SANE programs, mine in Madison WI, Linda LeDray St Paul, MN, and Pat Speck in Memphis, TN. I went back to school for a master’s degree in Forensic Medicine in 1986 at the UW. From then I practiced SANE at Meriter…

Helen Delfeld, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on May 9th at the age of 98.Born into a generation defined by resilience and grace, Helen lived a long and meaningful life centered around compassion, family, and quiet strength. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Francis “Frank” Delfeld, who passed away far too young at the age of 44.
