Sheryl Anne Cheli Spain, 69, of Santa Rosa, CA, died at home August 4, 2026. A musician, artist, mother, wife, sister, civil servant and devout Catholic, Sheryl loved her faith, family, and camping in California’s open spaces, above all in Yosemite National Park.She was born in San Francisco on November 30, 1956, the eldest of Dale and Lorraine Cheli’s four children. The family moved to Sonoma County where she attended Kenilworth Junior High in Petaluma and graduated from Analy High School in Sebastopol in 1974. That spring, she was named to the Apple Blossom Queen’s court.In December 1978, she married Robert “Bob” Spain, whom she met at a Santa Rosa dance hall. They raised their son, Steven, in Santa Rosa, and were an inseparable trio on family outings to Richardson’s Grove, the Humboldt Redwoods, Bodega Bay, and their favorite, Yosemite.She loved to travel, visiting Africa, Amsterdam, Alaska, and Mexico.
