Betty Jo Stone 90 of La Junta Colorado passed away on May 112026at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo Colorado. She was born on October 271935in Swink Colorado to George and Nola Blakney Broce. Betty attended a rural country school and later graduated from KimHighSchool where she was active intheGlee Club. She went on to attend Otero Junior College before meetingher future husband of 70 plus years James M. Stone while visiting family in Miles City Montana. The couple was united in marriage in November of 1954 and together built a life centered around faith family and hard work. He passed away at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar Colorado on May 12 2026 at the age of 90. James is survived by his children Carson Chesterman Holly Pettinger and Nadelle Wollert grandchildren Cody Chase Cale Heather Courtney Derek Colton Kelcy and Taryn great grandchildren Truvy Graceyn and another arriving soon sisters Jeanie and Linda many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Opal Chesterman brother Warren granddaughter Bailey and sister Ruth.

Interment in Fort Lyon National Cemetery will follow at 1230 p.m. Mabel Sarah Weaver Hansen was born on May 23 1937 to Samuel J. and Viola Keane Weaver at home on their ranch outside of Moffat. She passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 10 2026 in La Junta at the age of 88. Mabel was raised on her familys ranch outside of Moffat where she learned the value of hard work determination and family. She attended Moffat schools and graduated in 1955. During her senior year she proudly drove the school bus a responsibility that reflected her independence and strong work ethic from an early age.
