Shirley Ann (Cunningham) Kucia, 90, beloved wife of the late Frank Thomas Kucia, passed way Monday, June 29, 2026. Born in Melrose, MA, she was raised in West Hartford where she graduated from Hall High School. Shirley had been employed by SNET, as a teacher’s aide for Cherry Brook School in Canton, by the Town of Canton Building Department, and finally retiring from the Town of Avon Building Department. Shirley enjoyed knitting, bridge, and canasta clubs in Simsbury. She loved the beach, especially at Cape Cod where she and her husband camped for years. Shirley loved needlepoint and creating special items for her family at Christmas. She is survived by her sons Steven Kucia and his wife Michele of Canton and Thomas P. Kucia and his wife Maryanne of Rehoboth, MA; daughter Teresa “Terri” of Simsbury; grandchildren Bethany Albrecht and husband Peter, Daniel Kucia and wife Nancy, David Kucia, Matthew Kucia, Jacqueline…

Brian David Young, 62, of Winsted, husband of Alyssa Hochstetter, passed away, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born in Winsted, son of the late Earle E. Young, Jr., and Peggy Ann, (Smith) Young of Barkhamsted, he was raised in Barkhamsted and graduated from NW Regional 7 High School.  Besides his father he was predeceased by his brother Mark A. Young. Brian was a server at area restaurants, most recently the  Coach Stop. Besides his wife Alyssa and mother Peggy Ann, he leaves a son, Quinn E. Young of Winsted and his brother Wayne B. Young and his life partner Suzie Morro of Torrington. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced. He will be buried in Norfolk Center Cemetery with his family.
