Richard Tom Maxey 81 a lifelong resident of South Bend passed away on Wednesday April 1 2026 at the Center for HospiceRaclin House. On August 9 1969 he married the love of his life Judith Weiss sharing 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2023. Tom worked as a laborer at Bendix later Honeywell. He was also a faithful member of the Centre Twp. Fire Department the Ford Model A Club and the American Legion 303. Tom and Judy were also members of Deer Run Church of Christ. Tom is survived by his children Michelle Christopher Kowalski Marcia Christopher Greenwood and Dean Maxey as well as his grandchildren Andrew Noelani Jon Chelsea Emily Tyler Connor Cassidy and Melanie as well as 8 greatgrandchildren and his brother James Coralice Maxey. Robert R. Lawson Lawdog 69 a lifelong resident of St. Joseph County passed awayon Monday March 30 2026 at his home following a lengthy illness. Robert graduated from Riley High School and directly enlisted into the Marine Corpswhere he served for 11 years before receiving honorable discharge. He attended theIndiana Law Enforcement Academy and spent his career with the St. Joseph CountyPolice Dept. He retired in February 2016 after completing a 30 year career as anofficer. Robert served in patrol drug enforcement and a supervisor of the Street CrimesUnit. John R. Cook 69 of New Carlisle IN passed away unexpectedly on Monday March 30 2026 in his home. He was born on May 23 1956 in Indianapolis IN to the late Joseph Sr. and Barbara Stalcup Cook. He was also preceded in death by a brother James Cook. On March 18 1989 he married Sonia Thomas who survives also surviving are his son Jarrod Cook of LaPorte two grandchildren Damon and Ayla Cook a brother Joseph Cook Jr his aunt Nancy uncle Don Claus and numerous cousins nephews and a niece. Mr. Cook worked as a Hydraulic Manifold Designer for Daman Products in Mishawaka. He was a lead guitarist for many years in the 70s and 80s.
