Adam Norman Wickert, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and accomplished engineer, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on February 11, 2026, in Ames, Iowa. Born on May 5, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to immigrants Adam and Tabea (Henschel) Wickert, he lived a full life marked by integrity and service.Adam served in the United States Army as an artillery radar technician, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He then pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He built a career in the aerospace industry, which brought him and his family to the East Coast, Texas, and California. His technical and managerial expertise left a lasting impact on the design of spacecraft for telecommunications and defense.Adam shared a loving marriage with his wife, Deborah (Barnes) Wickert, also of Wisconsin, who passed away before him. Living in Boone, Iowa for many years.Visitation will be held in Dean’s honor at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames, Iowa on February 16, 2026, at 5:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on February 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ascension Lutheran Church, followed by a burial ceremony at 1:45 PM Squire Boone Cemetery.Born on May 4, 1953, in Estherville, Iowa. Dean enjoyed spending time on the farm with his grandparents and always said he wanted to be a farmer. In high school he enjoyed track and basketball graduating from Graettinger in 1971.
