Barbara was born January 19 1945 in El Dorado Arkansas to the late James Perry and Maime Louise Ramsey. She was the oldest of 8 children 3 preceded in death. Barbara was educated in the Union Parish school system in Louisiana. She attended college at Northwestern State College of Nursing achieving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Matilda was born and raised in Sterlington Louisiana a place she carried with her in her heart throughout her life. She was the cherished daughter of the late Marshall King and Muriel Dean Wallace Day and the stepdaughter of the late Aubrey L. Day. Funeral services for Mr. Claude B. Kennedy age 83 of West Monroe LA will be held at 300 PM Thursday April 2 2026 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Fenn. Interment will follow at Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Claude was a graduate of Farmerville High School. After finishing up high school he joined the Army where he served in Korea on the DMZ front line. Upon being discharged Claude worked as a plumber with Twin City Plumbing. Finishing up his career he purchased the Darbonne Lake Grocery in Downsville and built Kennedys Quick Stop. Claude was an avid horseback rider and enjoyed riding in Playdays. He raised cattle and horses enjoyed hunting and fishing and raised a large garden every year. Claude loved his wife daughter son grandson and great grandchildren very much and will be missed dearly.
