Richard E. “Bump” Bumpus, 90, of South Paris passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026 surrounded by his family.     He was born the eldest of 6 to Ernest L. Bumpus and Frances Carter Bumpus on July 3, 1935 in Buckfield, Maine. He graduated from Paris Hill School in 1955. After high school he served in the National Guard for 10 years. He worked for the State of Maine DOT driving dump trucks or plowing snow for over 40 years. He also enjoyed working for Knightly's Oil.      He married Faye S. Smith in 1961. Together they raised 5 children. In 1997, he married Sandra E. Hatch.       Richard’s hobbies and passion were his antique trucks and tractors. Initially a Ford man, he became a fan of all trucks. Steve owned a home in Greene, Maine, which he proudly called home for many years.Steve graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1977 and went on to build a life centered around hard work, loyalty, and friendship. For more than 22 years, he owned and operated his own logging company, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and mechanical abilities. Later, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for K & R Youland & Son and Bison Trucking, where his knowledge, skill, and willingness to lend a hand earned the respect and friendship of those around him.Steve was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was 79.Nick was born in Boston, MA. on December 17, 1946 the son of Nathaniel and Ruth Bartlett Rochester. He had a lifelong interest in geology and cut his first stone at the age of 12. He earned a degree in Geology at Northeastern University and went on to work in many aspects of the field. He did everything from being crew chief on wildcat oil wells in Texas and Venezuela, to field collecting museum quality mineral specimens, to working as Curator of Geology for the Morris Museum in New Jersey. In 1991 he married Marsha Phillips and in 1992 the couple moved to Oxford and in 1993 opened their store “Rochester’s Eclectic Emporium”, selling minerals, gems, jewelry, crystals, and more.
