Nancy Cole Newsom Farmer died at home after a long and wonderful life and a short period of living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).Nancy was born in 1944 to Virginia (Curtis) Cole and her husband Howard in Augusta, Maine. The family later moved to Bethel, Maine in 1952 when her father joined W.J.Wheeler & Company, the family insurance agency.For five summers as a teenager, Nancy attended Aloha camp in Fairlee, VT, where she developed many interests: hiking, canoeing, sailing, tennis, and crafting.Nancy attended Gould Academy and met many lifelong friends there, including her future husband, Jeff Newsom, of Groveton, NH. They had two children, Suzanne and Michael while living in Vermont and then Maryland. The family moved home to Maine when Jeff joined his father-in-law’s insurance agency.Nancy graduated from USM with her Bachelor’s, taught a bit of Junior High Math in South Paris, and later went on to get her…

Portland – David Allen Estes, age 80 of Fryeburg, passed away on Sunday June 21, 2026, at Maine Medical Center with Gail Holt by his side.He was born June 4, 1946, in North Conway, New Hampshire to Donald and Beulah (Smith) Estes of Baldwin ME.He was a logger and a forester for many years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with nature, especially watching the wildlife.He enjoyed doing odd jobs and helping people. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He loved his garden and working on vehicles.David is survived by his son Richard; and his sister Sharon LeGoff and her husband Roger; his niece Patty Legoff and her partner David Richardson; nephew Roger L.
