WINTHROP- Susie Ellingwood Abbott went home to the Lord on August 17, 2026, at the age of 104.Born on February 26, 1922 in North Paris Maine, she was the 9th of 11 Ellingwood children.On November 8, 1943 Susie married Hugh Warren Abbott, of Bethel Maine. Together, they worked on their West Paris farm (Abbott Orchards) and raised two sons, Duane and Carl.Susie also worked outside the farm in multiple community-focused jobs, includingpacking cans for troops and working in a hospital coffee shop while Hugh was inthe Navy during WWII. WWII was an especially anxious time for her. Hugh wasscheduled to ship out for the invasion of Japan, and no one knew what would happen.Two days before he was supposed to leave, the atomic bomb was dropped, and theinvasion never took place. Edward “Ed” Jones of Fryeburg, formerly of Needham, Massachusetts passed away on July 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous fight with cancer. Ed was 70 years old.He was employed as a Heli-Arc welder for many years, precisely welding wave guides for military fighter jets. He also worked as a fuel oil driver for over 20 years. Ed took pride in every job he worked.He enjoyed rebuilding small engines and was known for refurbishing many chainsaws, lawnmowers, etc. He loved telling stories of his past adventures and was also known for his interest in history.
