John M. Crowley 83 of Conway MA passed away on Saturday August 8th 2026 at the Baptist Hill Road home where he lived for the past 42 years. Crowley as he was commonly called was born in Presque Isle Maine at the US Air Force Hospital on December 1st 1942 the son of Joseph and Patience Lyon Crowley. John was the second of their five children. His father a doctor spent most of WWII in England periodically supervising the transport of wounded vets from continental Europe to England then to the U.S. and back. As they followed their fathers career after the war Crowley and his four sisters were constantly on the move. First they lived in Brattleboro VT then in the northeastern coal mining region of Martin KY next in South Bend and last in Lafayette IN. Their education was largely in Catholic schools but included a few notable…

Joan attended schools in Millers and Turners Falls graduating from Turners Falls High School in 1952. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1955. She was proudly employed at the Farren Memorial Hospital until 1988 and completed her forty seven year nursing career as the evening supervisor at the Franklin Nursing and Rehab Center in Greenfield. After her retirement Joan enjoyed NASCAR racing and the Hallmark Channel. She did jigsaw puzzles and the daily Wonderword. She maintained contact with her nursing pals and close friends. She was the second oldest in a family of six tightknit siblings. She spent her childhood in Lynn and graduated from Saint Marys Girls High School in 1961. She married Alfred Al Arsenault in 1966 and together they relocated to Western MA where they raised a daughter. They remained married until Als passing in 1992. Throughout her career Dorothy worked in a variety of administrative and secretarial roles. She spent 22 years as a secretary at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in Greenfield MA where she welcomed and supported countless children and their families with warmth kindness and compassion.
