With heavy hearts and immense gratitude for his life we announce the passing of Robert Bob John Downing age 88 on Monday September 28 2026 following a courageous battle with cancer. True to the way he lived Bob spent his last days at home in Kentwood Michigan surrounded by family and friends. Born on April 16 1938 in Grand Rapids Michigan to Olga Williams Downing and Robert Downing Bob was the oldest of four siblings. He became known for his strong work ethic quiet kindness generosity loyalty and remarkable ability to make people feel welcome. Bob was in every sense a good mansomeone who valued friendship treated people with respect and moved through life without making enemies. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy carrying the integrity and honor of that service throughout his life. Betty L. DeVries Carpenter age 87 passed away at the Oaks of Belmont on Saturday October 10 2026. Betty was born in Comstock Park MI to the late William J. and Leone DeVries. She was a loving and devoted mom grandma and greatgrandma and cherished her family. Blessed with an independent spirit she enjoyed lifes simple pleasures including trips to the casino playing bingo and spending time knitting. Throughout her life she demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to her work. She managed Pine Aire Mobile Home Park for many years before a career with Michigan Bulb Company where she faithfully worked until her retirement. Ann Lynema age 93 of Cedar Springs went home to be with her Lord on Thursday October 8 2026 one day after her 93rd birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Gertie Lynema siblings Jerry and Marilyn Lynema Henry Lynema Jean Lynema Jean Lynema and Roger Lynema. Ann will be lovingly remembered by special friends and her dear Trinity CRC family. Ann wanted a special thank you to the pastors for their care and shepherding throughout Anns life. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday October 16 2026 at Trinity Christian Reformed Church 660 S. State St. Sparta 49345 with Pastor C.J. den Dulk and Pastor Shaun Furniss officiating.
