Cherie Jean Key, 82, a fifty year resident of Lapeer area, died Sunday October 11, 2026. She was born November 28, 1943 in Detroit to parents Clayton and Ethel Jean (Smith) Oliver. Cherie graduated high school and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree.She was a cashier for Krogers and retired after twelve years. Cherie loved gardening, travel and trying new restaurants. She dabbled in photography and danced at many jamborees over the years. One of Cherie’s biggest passions was riding her motorcycle, named “Tweety”. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and loved being a grandma.Cherie is survived by her sons: Richard (Ardith) Bard of Lapeer; Ronald (Nikki) Bard of Flushing, grandchildren: Olivia; Jeffrey; Ashlee; Justin; Lee; Brady and many other grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, brothers: David Riska of TX and John Riska of FL.
