Janice L. Oberleiter age 85 of Carleton passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday October 5 2026. Born May 31 1941 she was the daughter of the late Jack and Norma Staley. Shortly after graduating from Airport High School Janice married the love of her life Ronald Oberleiter. and together they raised four children. Janice and Ronald spent 61 wonderful years together before his passing in 2020. Janice was a member of Divine Grace Parish for many years and her church life was very important to her. She worked several jobs throughout the years but being a homemaker was her true calling. Janice loved to travel all over the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Her and Ronald enjoyed taking cruises through the Caribbean and spending time up north at their cottage. In her spare time she could be found gardening and watching the birds. She…

Ward Allen Close 94 years of Erie MI passed away on Friday October 9 2026 in the Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. The son of Charles and Gertrude Baker Close he was born March 10 1932 in Carleton MI. A 1950 graduate of Monroe High School he studied agriculture at Michigan State University but became a heavy equipment operator and longtime member of Operating Engineers Local 324. He married Carol Dusseau in 1954 and together they started a residential excavating business in 1972. Ward was a longstanding member and supporter of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie where he served on many committees for the church and school for many years. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7413 and served as their recording secretary for several years.
