George Stebbins Jackson, 84, of Raleigh, MS, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born Friday, May 16, 1941, in Laurel, MS.Better known by his family and friends as “Gander,” George lived a long life filled with laughter, story-telling, and joking with others. At family gatherings and other events, Gander was often the center of attention as he told stories of pranks he pulled on his co-workers, family members, and friends. He worked the majority of his life in the oilfield industry and as a welder, but most people knew him as a cowboy. Gander loved the outdoors. He had an infinite love for horses, and any time he was able to ride, whether that be on trail rides or herding livestock, that is where he could be found.
