After a brief illness Bob Mauntel age 83 of Washington passed away on August 8 2026. Bob son of the late Sylvester Mauntel and Amelia nee Brune was born on August 31 1942 in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. Bobs life included a simple childhood wild teenage years marriage to his sweetheart a holy cow moment when twins were born a long career with MODot and 20 years of retirement. More specifically after high school Bob worked as a surveyor with the MODot for 41 years notably laying out the Page Avenue extension and many other projects in St. Charles. He worked hard to provide a wonderful life for his wife and sons and by example instilled a great work ethic. Saturday mornings in the Mauntel house were not for lazing around. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On June 16 1954 he was united in marriage to Lillian Sickmann at St. Francis Borgia Church. Skip was a member of the Knights of Columbus the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and the Washington Brass Band. He served on the Washington City Council and in the army during the Korean War. He was an avid fishermanenjoyed golf and was a lifelong traveler. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School and Missouri School of Mines in Rolla in 1958. On August 25 1956 he was united in marriage to Brooksie Turner at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Mr. Unnerstall served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. Les was employed by Mallinckrodt Chemical Works in 1958. While working there he also received a Patent for one of the projects that he was involved in. He received his education from Washington High School and Ranken Technical College. On June 6 1964 he was united in marriage to Jill Hynes in Des Moines Iowa. He began his career as an engineer but he was never afraid to take a chance. Believing in building something of his own he moved his young family to Mississippi to start an insurance agency. Years later he chased another lifelong dream by opening a Wards restaurant and bringing the Mississippi favorite to Mobile Alabama.
