William was born in Utica on December 7 1937 the son of Emerson Sr. and Mae Winslow Griffiths. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On July 23 1966 William was united in marriage to Mary Anne Iacovino at St. Peters Church in Utica. William began his professional career as a printer with Utica Mutual Insurance Company and later continued his career with Commercial Travelers Insurance Company in Utica where he dedicated 35 years of service before retiring in 2007.
