George F. Donahue Jr. 79 of Westernville passed on August 18 2026 at The Wynn Hospital in Utica. He was born on July 21 1947 in Rome N.Y. a son of the late George and Julia Carmody Donahue Sr. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. Following graduation he was drafted into the United States Army. George proudly served his country from 19661969. On December 29 2000 he was united in marriage to Margery Reddick at their home in Westernville N.Y. George was employed as a heavy crane operator with Local Union 17 545 of Syracuse N.Y. He was a former member of St. Peters Church of Rome. He enjoyed hunting at Woodgate and spending time outdoors. Roger Covell Gates age 92 passed away peacefully at Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana PA on August 17 2026. He was born on February 24 1934 in Utica NY the son of Rev. Edmund Jayne Gates and Marjorie Covell Coley Gates. He graduated from DeVeaux Episcopal Military Academy in Niagara Falls NY and Springfield College in Springfield Massachusetts. He served as a Chaplains Assistant in the US Army and married his wife Evangeline Jill Senior Gates on June 14 1958. They shared 61 years together before her death in 2019. Roger worked in sales for most of his life selling office furniture for Pfleegers in Utica NY textbooks for Laidlaw Brothers and finally electronics components first for Rome Electronics and later through his own firm Advantage Associates. He was born May 2 1949 in Ilion the son of Anthony E. and Helen Zawko Mariotti Sr. Tony graduated from West Winfield High School in 1968. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country from 19681972 and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant E4. Tony was united in marriage to Judith Bowen on August 2 1974. They recently celebrated 52 years of love and devotion. Tony worked for Strandflex for many years and then retired from Indium in 2015. He was a member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9591 member of American Legion Post 26 in Clark Mills Past President of Local 1787 International Association of Machinists and enjoyed a good round of golf at the Westmoreland Golf Course.
