DURHAM: Deborah Guyer Broadwell, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Treyburn Rehabilitation Center in Durham. She was born in Durham, the daughter of the late William Boyd Guyer and Grace Daniels Guyer.Ms. Broadwell was a Certified Dance Masters of America instructor for 50 years. She retired as a Dental Assistant after many years of faithful service.Ms. Broadwell is survived by her son, Daniel Broadwell and wife Amber; grandson, Will Broadwell and wife Jamie; and great-grandson, Daniel Broadwell.A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 20th at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham.The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham. Rita Marie O’Neil, 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Hyattsville, MD. She was born in Durham on August 22, 1942, to the late Paul Thomas O’Neil and Pauline Gupton O’Neil.Rita also lived in Virginia and West Virginia during her childhood before moving back to Durham as a young adult. She graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in White Sulphur Springs, WV and then relocated back to Durham (circa early 1960s) and attended business school. She lived in Durham until she needed more specialized support and then moved to Virginia in 2022 (and eventually Maryland), close to her daughter, Rebecca.Rita herself was a caregiver. She was a stay-at-home mom who raised her two girls, Teresa and Rebecca, and managed the household. Rita was a caregiver for the young and the elderly. She was a nurturing and constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren, Tyler and Madison.…

DURHAM ~ Samuel Bruce Mangum, 99, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born in Bahama, NC on March 28, 1926 to the late Jennis Maynard Mangum and Alma Hall Mangum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear wife, Edna Jane Winston Mangum on January 10, 2019, a brother, Richard Talmadge Mangum at the age of 9, step-mother, Ruth Pickard Mangum, son-in-law, Eddie Hill and sister, Winifred Mangum Watkins.Bruce attended school at Mangum School in Bahama thru 3rd grade. When the family moved to Durham in 1934, he continued his education in Durham City Schools, graduating from Durham High School, Class of 1944.
