Virginia Elizabeth “Ginny” Patrick Cooke, 82, passed away the morning of February 12th, 2026, at Duke University Medical Center.Born on January 7th, 1944, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Ginny entered the world with the natural charm, beauty, and poise that would define her entire life. She was the beloved daughter of Ernest Cleveland Patrick and Elizabeth Wells Patrick, who predeceased her.Ginny grew up in Elloree, South Carolina, where she graduated from Elloree High School in 1961. She went on to attend Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina. Much of her childhood was spent surrounded by the people and places she loved most—family and friends on the Santee Cooper lakes and the beaches near Charleston. He and Joan met in high school and their story took off from there. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in December 2025. Sam and Joan had two children, Jennifer and Sam, IV as well as two adored grandchildren, Peyton and Wyatt. Being the first-born grandchild, Peyton was Sam’s little princess.
