Mary “Lorae” Pellittere Roukema, age 85, of Southern Pines, NC passed away on August 17, 2026. Lorae was born in Paterson, NJ, to Anthony and Emma Pellittere. She lived her life simply, loving and sharing love with everyone she met. Lorae spent her life caring for others. Professionally, she served many years as a nurse in New Jersey and in North Carolina, notably as the first school nurse of Moore County Schools.Lorae was an endlessly devoted mother whose love had no bounds. For decades you could find Nana (as many affectionately called her) on the bleachers cheering on her children and grandchildren or as a lifelong Girl Scout, leading their troops.Wife of Ronald J. Mary Ann Strider, 94, of Pinehurst, passed peacefully at FirstHealth Hospice House on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.Mary Ann was born on November 22, 1931, in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, to the late Guy Maxwell Moler and Charlotte Fern Hill Moler. She was raised in nearby Bakerton and was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School.In 1950, Mary Ann married Nevin Eugene Strider, beginning a life centered around family, community, and service. She worked for many years with the U.S. Department of the Interior before retiring in 1987.Mary Ann was a longtime member of Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church and, after moving to Pinehurst, attended The Village Chapel.
