Paula Jane Braune Schubert passed away peacefully at her home in Durham on August 14, 2026. Paula was born on October 30, 1952, in Orlando, Florida. She graduated from Stetson University and took a job at the University of Florida where she met her husband, Francis (Frank) Vincent Schubert. They married and moved to North Carolina in 1979, and Paula took a job at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill in the School of Pharmacy as a program director for continuing education.She was an active member of the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) where she served on and chaired many committees. She served as President of SEANC from 1999-2000 and helped lead the organization in a more aggressive direction, introducing a new mission, logo and motto – Keeping Watch, Taking Action.Paula was also one of the founders of EMPAC, SEANC’s political action committee, in 1989 and was…

Bob “Yeehaw” Klodnicki, 43, left us unexpectedly on Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was at home. Bob was born in Pennsylvania before moving to Tucson AZ, and then to Durham. He was a graduate of Riverside High School and went on to operate and own Tri-City Signs and Awards for many years.He was a man of diverse interests and hobbies, including woodworking, books, video games, YouTube, 3D printing, and animals. He particularly loved dogs and cats. He was very affected by the passing of his beloved hound dog Rufus in 2025. Bob was a friendly and jovial soul who loved to make other people laugh. He delighted in telling stories, playing jokes and being silly. He was extremely generous, even to his own detriment, and was always giving gifts and performing random acts of kindness, like buying lunch for strangers and giving drinks and snacks to delivery drivers.
