Nicky (Nick) Scott Blackburn, 64, of Wilkesboro, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, just one day before his 65th birthday. Nick was a devoted observer of the night sky, spending many clear evenings photographing stars, constellations, galaxies, and the moon. His lifelong love of God’s Heaven’s was one of his greatest joys. He earned his Associate Degree in Information Technology from Wilkes Community College and opened his own computer store, PC Source, in the former Wilkes Mall. Over the years, he collaborated with NASA, served as a Certified Weather Spotter for the National Weather Service in Raleigh, NC, and earned certification in Renewable Energy Technologies (Solar) from NC State University. He retired as the System Administrator for the IT Department at Wilkes Community College.Born in Wilkes County, NC, Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Evelyn Blackburn and his brother, Bentley Blackburn.He is survived by…
