Michael Joseph Carty 70 of Portsmouth passed away on Thursday January 22 2026 at his home. He was born on April 3 1955 in Huntington WV to the late Robert Joseph and Floreine Mae Massie Carty. Mike was a welder having worked in Columbus and he was a 1973 graduate of Portsmouth High School and the Scioto County Joint Vocational School. A disabled veteran Mike served with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal the Good Conduct Medal the NAVMC Parachutist Insignia the Rifle Expert Badge and the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge. Mike is survived by his brother Robert Christopher Lisa Carty of New Holland OH three sisters Robin A. Storey of Portsmouth Suzanne M. Carty of Franklin KY and Jennifer L.
