Barbara Elaine Greene, age 72, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on October 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. A visitation with family present will be held Monday, October 19, 2026, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville.She was born on January 6, 1954, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Margaret Douglas and Donald Kerr. Barb grew up in Tracy, Iowa, where she attended elementary school and graduated from Twin Cedars High School in 1972. She met Mark Greene while in high school and they married on October 12, 1954. Barb attended the Iowa School of Beauty and worked as a cosmetologist in Knoxville for 25 years. She went on to work later as an ophthalmology assistant, pharmacy technician, and in various other jobs.Barb is survived by her husband, Mark Greene, and daughter, Shawna Greene (Scott McCullough), along with her grandchildren, Cooper and Cambell McCullough. Funeral services for John Vander Ecken, 92, of Melcher-Dallas, will be held Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home. Following the service, the family will receive friends until 3:00 p.m., with refreshments served.Memorials in John’s name may be made to the Melcher-Dallas American Legion Post 632.John Leroy Vander Ecken was born December 20, 1933, in Melcher, Iowa, to James and Alice (Robinson) Vander Ecken. He was one of twelve children, so needless to say, the Vander Ecken household was never short on excitement! John often shared the story of his mother hanging him on the clothesline just to keep track of him while she did the laundry.
