Edwin grew up in Meadville he was then inducted into the United States Army in 1952 during the Korean War. He served with the 223rd Infantry Regiment a part of the 40th Infantry Division. The regiments role was primarily defensive holding key hill positions while repelling enemy probes by the Chinese and North Korean Forces. Positioned along the central front near the Punch Bowl area. The unit was involved in several significant battles including Outpost Eerie and Hill 812 where sustained engagements of small units fought fierce closerange battles for control of key observation points. As well as Kumsong and Heartbreak Ridge sectors where continued patrol clashes as well as artillery duels during the final stages of the war. Edwin was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars the Combat Infantry Badge and the United Nations Service Medal. Edwin served one year and two months in foreign service…

Thomas Stanley Baniewicz age 83 of Erie PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday March 28 2026. Tom was born in Erie on November 9 1942 to the late Stanley and Dorthy Baniewicz. A lifelong resident of Erie he graduated from Cathedral Prep in 1960 and attended Gannon University from 19601962. He proudly served in the U.S Air Force from 19641968 as a Sergeant with the Strategic Air Command. After serving his country Tom worked at GE then American Sterilizer until his retirement. Tom married Margaret "Peggy" Pershing in 1970. They were married until Peggys passing in 1990. In 1994 Tom married Karen Atkinson who remained by his side until his passing and provided the care he needed to remain at home in his final months. Carol was the beloved wife and best friend of Charles Vorse with whom she shared over 65 years of marriage. Jane Ware was born on February 21 1928 in Bellefonte PA in Centre County to the late Maude Stover and Carroll Korman. She grew up during the Great Depression and began working hard at a very young age and never seemed to stop. She started her successful career with the Navy in the Philadelphia shipyards as an executive assistant. She took an opportunity to move to Erie and continued her career at Eriez Magnetics. She was married to the late John W. Ware Jr. and has one daughter Olivia. Jane was very proud of her German heritage and recounted frequently all the successes of her seven siblings. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting antiques gardening and doting on her three grandchildren John Daniel and Anna. Linda Jean Cox 75 was born on April 22 1950 and departed this life on March 21 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Aliquippa Pennsylvania and a graduate of Hopewell High School Class of "69". Linda had a warm heart and inviting spirit and found joy in serving others. She was employed at Allegheny General Hospital Verland and as an assistant teacher in the Head start Program. Linda greatly cherished her only son 2 granddaughters and greatgrandson. She also took pride and loved any opportunity to host family gatherings and cooking for her loved ones .
