Pete Stark a highly decorated United States Army Special Forces veteran scholar and devoted patriot passed away on October 4 2026 at the age of 82. Born in Bronxville New York on May 26 1944 Pete lived a life marked by extraordinary courage intellectual curiosity independence and a deep commitment to the principles he believed in. Pete volunteered to serve his country during the Vietnam War. As a Special Forces medic with Detachment A362 Company A 5th Special Forces Group Airborne he served with distinction in the Republic of Vietnam. On January 4 1968 while serving as medic on a combat patrol in Tay Ninh Province Sergeant Stark distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism. After the team ambushed and captured a Viet Cong soldier he immediately treated the prisoners wounds.
