Arthur James Mathias affectionately known to his friends and family as AJ passed away on June 30 2026. Born in Lexington South Carolina on February 3 1936 to Long John Mathias and Qullia Mathias. AJ was a gentile and kind man with a deep love for his wife children and grandchildren. He was also a proud great grandfather to 14 wonderful children who he cherished as a blessing in his life. He loved camping especially at Smoke Mont and enjoyed being outdoors. He was most happy when sharing hunting and fishing adventures with his family and friends. AJ resided in Lexington County close to the town of Pelion South Carolina where he enjoyed spending time with his family and building wonderful memories. AJ worked as a mechanic before working with the Lexington County Recreation Commission. AJ was very talented with his hands and enjoyed working on projects at home in…
