John Robert Behl Jr. passed away peacefully on August 16 2026 at the age of 78. He was a devoted husband father grandfather and friend whose steady presence practical wisdom quick wit and unwavering commitment to his family touched all who knew him. John was born on March 12 1948 in Carthage Missouri and grew up in Little Rock Arkansas and Atlanta Georgia. He graduated from Briarcliff High School in DeKalb County Georgia before attending the University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In December 1971 John married the love of his life Marcia Marion Saval of Petersburg Virginia. For 54 years she remained at the center of his world. Elizabeth Betty was born March 30 1947 to Emma and Rudy Davidson in Cleveland OH. She grew up in Madison along the beautiful shores of Lake Erie which she spoke of often. Her family enjoyed stories of a childhood along one of the magnificent great lakes with her older sister Lois and big brother Rudy. She had a deep appreciation for the joy found in beauty which led her to a lifelong interest in creating beauty from the aesthetically pleasing spaces she created as an interior designer to the care and whimsy she put into her annual Christmas cookie collection that delighted her children and grandchildren every year. But it was her volunteer work as a high school student at a nursing home which sparked a love for working with the elderly something she did up until the early days of her diagnosis.
