William B. Dye was born on August 5, 1944, in Coushatta, LA and passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Athens, TX. He met and married the love of his life, Karen B. Dye (nee Bryant) on June 15, 1968, in Shreveport, LA. He leaves behind his wife, a son, Christopher B. Dye, wife Jee Hyun and granddaughter Haeun, and daughter Kellie D. Brisse, husband Wade, grandson Taylor, wife Josefina and great-granddaughter Elena, and granddaughter Caitlin, husband Brandon and great-granddaughter Poppy. He also leaves behind three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and seven brothers.Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 – 1970 and in the United States Coast Guard from 1973 – 1975. He served his community as a Shreveport Police Officer and ultimately retired from the Bossier Police Department after 28 combined years…

Dr. Larry L. Jaques, of Athens, passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born April 20, 1941, in Clarkton, Missouri, the only child of Ballard T. and Lucille (Shelton) Jaques.After graduation from high school, he served in the United States Navy. He received his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech in 1965 and began coaching and teaching social science in public school. He then received his master’s from the University of Arkansas, and in 1973 he earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Mississippi. He taught sociology in colleges in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. He and his wife also spent several years in mission and evangelistic work in Georgia and south Texas. He published two novels.He is survived by his wife Paula, two daughters, Kelly Andrews and husband Bruce of Plano, and Gailene Jaques of Athens, two granddaughters, Melanie Neal and her…
