James C. Cherry, 68, passed away on February 8, 2026. He was born in Portsmouth, VA on October 21, 1957 to the late Victor and Juanita Cherry. He was retired after 35 years as a longshoreman in ILA Local 970.“JC” was an avid car enthusiast and collector, particularly the Ford Mustang. He also enjoyed his daily workouts at the YMCA with his many friends he made there. He loved watching sports, especially his favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was active in his church and loved his church family at Trinity Episcopal Church.He is survived by his sisters Victoria Saxby of Palm Beach FL and Wendy Edwards (Jeff) of Chesapeake VA along with his nephews Andrew and Alex Edwards.
