He was a well-educated man, earning a law degree from Bluefield State College and a culinary degree from Oxford University in London, reflecting both his discipline and his wide range of interests and talents. He was a man who truly embraced life and the world around him. He had a deep love for nature and enjoyed hunting, often finding peace in the outdoors.
