Donald Lee Popp passed away unexpectedly at his home in Freedom, WI, on Saturday, February 28th, 2025. He leaves behind Mary Cabino, the love of his life, and his beloved dog, Baby.Don was born on September 27, 1945, in Milwaukee, WI, to George and Lucille (Krause) Popp. He worked in building maintenance for a nursing home in Milwaukee before moving to Forest County about 30 years ago, where he could immerse himself in his passion for hunting and fishing until his diminishing eyesight limited that. He lived there until his passing, surrounded by the woods he cherished.He is survived by his partner, Mary Cabino; his sister, Georgiann and brother-in-law, Ricky Thompson; his sister-in-law, Anita (Tuller) Popp; and nieces and nephews: Kim (Tom) Michalak, Dawn (Dale) Perkins, Gregory (Marsha) Popp, Denise Popp, and Jennifer Popp. Don is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends in the Crandon, Wabeno,…

Daniel James Niehaus

Daniel James Niehaus, age 76, of Marshfield, WI, passed away at his home on March 25, 2026.Dan was born on October 19, 1949, to Norbert and Mary Niehaus in Marshfield. As a child he worked on the family farm, shooting bow and arrow and playing basketball in his free time. He camped and fished with his parents and siblings, the catalyst to his lifelong passion for the outdoors.Following his graduation from Columbus High School in 1967, Dan began his lifelong career as a truck driver. He interrupted his work to enlist in the United States Navy in August of 1969 serving until his honorable discharge in July of 1971. During his service he assisted beach landings that delivered equipment and supplies to missions in Vietnam.Dan married Rebecca Conway in 1972, and they had two children, Benjamin and Valerie.
