Sarah Beth Raht GjelstenMay 15, 1943 – October 11, 2026Sarah (Raht) Gjelsten, born in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Elizabeth and Robert Raht will be remembered for her dedication to others, generous spirit, fondness of animals, and the love she shared with family and friends throughout her lifeSarah attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL where she graduated with honors in 1965 majoring in Sociology and Anthropology. She went on to have a distinguished career in education, devoting 35 years to teaching 3rd Grade at South Park Elementary School in the Deerfield, IL school district. Through her years in the classroom, Sarah made a lasting difference in the lives of countless students and impacted many families in her community.Sarah was a self-reliant woman who forged her own path in life, living independently in a way that was uncommon for women of her generation.
