William A. “Sonny” Tolbert, age 89, passed away on March 30, 2026 in the presence of his family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3 at 11:00 AM at Lester Memorial Methodist Church with the Reverends Joe Hastings, Barry Hallman, and Clay Farrington officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the service.Sonny is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Sams Tolbert of Maylene; two sons, Craig (Kristi) Tolbert of Hoover and Brent (April) of Calera; one brother, James Tolbert of Oneonta; four grandsons, Trent (Bailey) Tolbert of Birmingham, Brooks (Madison) Tolbert of Pelham, Sam Tolbert of Hoover, and Ross Tolbert of Calera; and one great-granddaughter, Quinn Tolbert. Lowell Eugene Vancil, Jr. went to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at age 71. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 25 years, Kim Vancil; children, Joey Vancil (Karen), John Kisor, Shana McCutcheon (Jason), and Joshua Earwood; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler (Kaitlyn), Elizabeth (Cameron), MaHalie, Johnni, Jayselynn, Macee, Sara, Addyson, Riley, Shyla, Isaac, and Charlee Rose; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Vancil; his best fur friend and guardian, Sadie; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Lowell was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Annie Randall and his parents, Lowell and Carolyn Vancil. Lowell was born in Rockmart, GA and spent a lot of his adult years there. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He cared for his family, always willing to do things for them. He told them he loved them often and had a sense of humor…
