Loyd “LG” Smith, 69, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing.He was born July 14, 1957, in Jacksonville, the son of Floyd Lincoln Smith and Betty Jean Young.He is survived by his mother, Betty Jean Young; one son, Bryan Wayne Wheatley; four daughters, Jamie Dyer, BeaJae Scoggins, Rachael (Matt) Long and Brooke (Kyle) Henderson; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four brothers, Floyd Smith Jr, Dennis Smith (companion, Ronnie Ford), Steve Smith and Oscar Haden “Hoss” Coffey; two sisters, Kay Greer and Tina O’Keefe; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his four daughters, Robin Scoggins. He was preceded in death by his father, one grandson, Kayleb Baumgart; and son-in-law, Nolan Dyer.LG worked for many years for AACO and later for Magic Brush Painting, both in Jacksonville.
