Morton “Boyd” Downs, III age 64 passed away on May 12, 2026 after a long stay at Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center in Mount Vernon, Ky. Born October 26, 1961, Boyd grew up in Owensboro, Ky where he attended and was baptized at Buena Vista Baptist Church. After graduating from Metcalfe County High School, he attended college, served his country in the Army and was involved with the Center for Accessible Living. He was a gifted pianist and vocalist and also enjoyed art and Kentucky basketball. Boyd was predeceased by his father, Morton Boyd Downs, Jr.; his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Boyd is survived by his loving mother, Janelle Emberton Downs; daughter, Lauren Downs; and beloved grandson, Cody Livesay and numerous cousins. Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. James H.
