NORWOOD Dennis J. Oakes 72 a resident of 3485 County Rt. 47 Norwood passed away peacefully on March 30 2026 at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh NY with family at his side. Dennis is survived by his wife of 22 years Marianne Norwood a son Josh and Vania Oakes two granddaughters Sabrina and Savannah Oakes all of Denver CO two stepchildren Ben Noreau and his companion Dellie Whittier Watertown and Erin Yezzo Milford NH three stepgrandsons John Ian and his twin brother Eric Noreau his brother Robert "Bob" and Kathy Oakes Norwood and a sisterinlaw Lisa Oakes Winthrop as well as several nieces nephews and extended family members. Jeff was born on March 4 1964 in Gouverneur to the late Jerry R. and Frances Aldrich McDonald. He attended Gouverneur Central School and earned his GED. Jeff had mowed for several local cemeteries for several years. He kept to himself but loved talking to people. Everybody loved Jeff and he had a knack for remembering their Birthdays. He enjoyed watching wrestling and football and was a NY Giants fan. Jeff is survived by his sister and brotherinlaw Laura and Joshua Link his nieces nephews cousins aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Edwards on Saturday April 4 2026 from 1200100 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow at 100 p.m. at the funeral home.
