JoAnn Hawkins Howe age 90 of Rogersville passed away Wednesday July 1 2026 at Signature Healthcare of Rogersville following a period of declining health. She was a faithful member to West View Baptist Church. JoAnn spent many years as a medical assistant at Lyons Hospital. She was preceded in death by husband of 60 years Joseph E. "Pee Wee" Howe Jr. parents Clayton and Lena Parker Hawkins brothers Claude Lyons Hawkins and Carl VanBuren Hawkins sisterinlaw Jewell Barker brotherinlaw Bill Barker and step daughter Tammy Hurd. Dorothy Marie Gilliam, age 88, of Rogersville, Tennessee, entered into the waiting arms of her loving Father after a valiant battle with a prolonged illness on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026. Dorothy was born in 1937 to Ray and Alice Mayes. It was also the year the majestic Golden Gate Bridge opened and engineers built the first jet engine. In other words, 1937 was clearly a banner year for remarkable things-and Dorothy fit right in. Dorothy was one of nine children, a fact she always mentioned with the helpful warning that she would not recommend anyone else try it. Naturally, she then went on to have six children of her own, apparently deciding that if you’re going to give advice, you might as well ignore it once or twice.While she held several jobs throughout her life-most notably serving as a friendly face at Farm Bureau Insurance for more than 30 years-her…

Emily Shields Lyons, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 30th with family by her side. Emily was born in Rogersville to the late Dr. WM Henry and Eunice Lyons. She was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling, making art, and being a devoted mother to her two sons. She also enjoyed church services from First Baptist Church in Rogersville, TN for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Lyons; special aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her sons, Joey Booth (Kimberly) and James Booth; grandson, Jacob William Booth; brother, Bill Lyons (Sharman); nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Lyons, Julia Lyons, James David Lyons (Ashley), and Conner Lyons; special cousins, Pat Brackin, Dan Shields (Paula), and Janice Garner (Jerry).
