Shirley Merritt 96 went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 2 2026. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Church Hill. She was a devoted wife sister aunt and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents siblings several nieces and nephews and her dear husband Edward Merritt. She is survived by numerous nieces nephews extended family members and dear friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who helped them care for Shirley in her final years. It truly meant so much. The family would also like to acknowledge the unmatched love and care provided by Shirleys late niece Freda Lane who spent many years of her life helping Shirley and others in so many ways.

Christopher Lee Barrett age 44 of Rogersville passed away Thursday July 2 2026 at Ballad Health Hawkins County Memorial Hospital. He was employed by Lee Electrical Company as a lineman. Survivors include his wife Jacqueline Goins Barrett daughter Haley Barrett Ivan son Kameron Barrett Niki parents Darrell and Shelia Laster Barrett all of Rogersville three grandchildren Addy Miller Kaiya Reed and Bretton Barrett brothers Dustin L. Barrett Billy Joe Barrett and Adam Barrett all of Kingsport. Visitation hours will be 1200 noon to 100 p.m. Thursday July 16 2026 in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home.

He was loved by many. Scott Alan Dees, age 64, of Rogersville, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. Born and raised in Alameda County, California, Scott relocated to Rogersville, TN in September of 2020.His unexpected passing leaves a great void in the lives of those left to grieve: Daughters, Kris Bradford (NC) and Melissa Rice (CA); Sister, Viki Raab (CA); Wife, Rhonda Dees (Rogersville, TN) and his Fur-babies Lily and Layla.
